Chronic Injuries of Other Joints

Spine:

Herniated Disc: Protrusion of an intervertebral disc that can compress nerves and cause lower back or neck pain, sometimes radiating to the limbs.
Spondylosis: Degenerative wear of the vertebrae and intervertebral discs, which can lead to chronic back pain and limited mobility.

Hip:

Hip Osteoarthritis: Cartilage wear in the hip joint, resulting in pain and stiffness in the hip area.
Trochanteric Bursitis: Inflammation of the greater trochanter, the bony prominence on the side of the hip, which can cause pain and discomfort.

Knee:

Patellar Chondromalacia: Cartilage wear in the kneecap due to degenerative changes, which may cause pain during knee movement.
Iliotibial Band Syndrome: Irritation of the iliotibial band as it rubs against the femur, causing pain on the outer side of the knee.

Ankle and Foot:

Plantar Fasciitis: Inflammation of the plantar fascia on the bottom of the foot, causing heel pain and discomfort along the sole.
Morton’s Neuroma: Thickening of the nerves at the base of the toes, causing pain and numbness.

Finger Joints:

Osteoarthritis of the Interphalangeal Joints: Cartilage degeneration in the finger joints, causing pain and finger deformities.
Heberden’s Nodes: Small bony lumps at the joints near the fingertips due to osteoarthritis.

Wrist and Hand:

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Compression of the median nerve in the wrist, causing numbness and pain in the hand.
Osteoarthritis of the Trapeziometacarpal Joint: Cartilage wear at the base of the thumb, resulting in pain and limited movement.

Shoulder:

Shoulder Osteoarthritis: Degeneration of cartilage in the shoulder joint, causing pain and restricted movement.
Subacromial Bursitis: Inflammation of the fluid-filled bursae in the shoulder, leading to pain and discomfort.

Elbow:

Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow) and Epitrochleitis (Golfer’s Elbow): Inflammation of the tendons in the elbow due to repetitive movements, causing pain in the elbow and forearm.

Treatment for these chronic joint conditions may vary and include physical therapy, strengthening exercises, medications, activity modification, and in some cases, surgery. If you are experiencing chronic joint pain, it is important to seek medical attention for an accurate diagnosis and a personalized treatment plan.
